About the Project
Baker’s Best Desserts is a local at-home bakery created by Heather Kooser in Glen Burnie, MD. Baker’s Best was established in 2017 when Heather was in high school and attended a trade school for a baking & pastry program. She competed in the SkillsUSA Baking Competition and placed as a silver medalist during the States competition. She has had a passion for decorating and baking cakes & cookies ever since.
Baker’s Best has been in an evolving project—we created the branding in 2017 and now have a refreshed website as of 2021. One of the most important elements of the brand is the hand-drawn icons and illustrations. These icons help showcase the brand as local, custom, and handmade. After creating the basic elements of a brand, the brand was extended with patterns, business cards, menus, various templates, packaging & tags, and social media posts.
The latest website was created with Squarespace. We moved from basic HTML & CSS to Squarespace so that Heather could easily update the website and create an e-commerce shop. Check out the website!

Project Credits
Props to Heather Kooser for starting her side business back in 2017! Since then she’s made hundreds of cupcakes, cookies, cakes, cake pops, and more. Her artistry and decorating skills have grown so much! One of my favorite cakes she’s made is a Super Mario Cake.
