About the Project

San Jose State University provides a comprehensive university education, granting bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in 250 areas of study. With more than 32,000 students and nearly 4,300 employees, SJSU is an essential partner in the economic, cultural and social development of Silicon Valley and California.

I created a 24-page Residential Curriculum Workbook for San Jose State University's Housing Department. The inspiration for the look and feel of the booklet was based upon Dutch painter Piet Mondrian's mosaic designs and the class art style, Mondrainism. The use and inspiration of Mondrainsim in the residential workbook gives the design a modern twist by being used in print design. The mosaic-like design grids allow for new possibilities for organizing information and images.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Krystal on two separate graphic design projects for two different universities and I must say, you won’t find anyone more talented or more communicative than Krystal. What I appreciate most about Krystal’s process is her communication. She asks questions when she needs clarification, follows up with updates, and answers emails so quickly! I’ve also been impressed with Krystal’s attention to detail with her projects. She has a way of piecing pictures, graphs, text all together to make it look so cohesive and unique.”
