About the Project

Barcoding, Inc., is a supply chain automation and innovation company that impacts tens of thousands of organizations across the globe, helping them increase revenue, reduce operational costs, and improve their customers’ experiences.

With Windows Mobile reaching the end of support in January 2020, Barcoding launched an integrated campaign and research program to survey customers and industry leaders about their knowledge of the change, their perspective on the process of migrating, and the challenges and opportunities in the adoption of new mobile technology.

Since Barcoding wanted to update the research study in 2021, a new survey was conducted on enterprise mobile technology and IoT adoption, resource allocation, and mobile user experience. This new survey was used to compare data and various changes in perspectives, processes, and technologies between data from 2019 and 2021. This is how we discovered what’s on the minds of our IT, Ops, and supply chain leaders.

In this 20-page report, we compared 2021 data with our 2019 data to see how the pandemic response impacted mindsets around technology adoption. We have tips and best practices directly from some of our top customers. And, we recommended strategies to ensure a strong user and technology foundation for your company's supply chain processes.

Inspiration

For the design of the research report, we focused on finding various reports and whitepapers from technology organizations such as Gartner, and design and marketing organizations/companies such as AIGA and FocusVision. In these reports, the information and data were clean and readable with very few colors and icons. With these reports, I noticed that the 16:9 landscape and portrait format was typical for this type of content. We ultimately decided to create a landscape piece since it was primarily digital and needed to be read easily on a computer or any device.

Integrated Campaign for the Research Report

The research report campaign was multifaced—promotional efforts focused on digital strategies (integrated social and email marketing) and included a custom landing page site (barcoding.com/research-report). The research component leveraged a combination of tactics: a digital survey, customer phone interviews, and our in-person workshops (Geek Tanks).

Throughout the campaign, there was a comprehensive system of assets created including; email templates, email signature images, over 100 social media posts, ads to promote the research, and of course, the 20-page report full of data about enterprise mobile technology and IoT adoption, resource allocation, and mobile user experience.

The social campaign was one of our biggest campaigns yet with over 100 posts that developed 500 interactions, 300 clicks, 49 shares, and almost 9,000 impressions. LinkedIn was the most successful with this campaign—we had an increase of over 150 followers.
